1. Operator, scope and eligibility
PathwayFig is operated by an individual developer based in China ("we", "us", or "our"). These terms apply to our website, free diagram editor, accounts and optional AI image generation. Contact the operator at [email protected].
Use the service only if you are at least 18 years old, have the legal capacity to accept these terms and, when acting for an institution, are authorized to do so. The service is not directed to children. By creating an account or submitting an AI request, you agree to these terms and the Acceptable Use Policy. Our Privacy Policy describes personal-data processing. If you do not accept these terms, do not use the service.
2. What the service provides
The free template editor lets you move and rename nodes, change relationships, and export SVG or PNG files. Template editing takes place in your browser; export your file to keep a copy. We do not promise that unsaved work can be recovered.
AI generation, when enabled, produces a separate raster image draft from your description. It does not automatically convert that image into an editable biological graph. AI images are generated through APIMart, using API model gpt-image-2.5-ext with version flare. Read the model and provider disclosure.
This is a research and illustration tool, not a diagnostic system, medical device, medical advice service or substitute for professional judgment. Do not use outputs to decide patient treatment or to operate safety-critical systems.
3. Accounts and security
Use accurate account information, keep your password private, and tell us at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access. Do not share accounts, obtain another person's account data, bypass limits or misrepresent a purchase. You are responsible for activity that you authorize; this does not waive rights you have concerning unauthorized transactions.
The free editor does not require an account. AI access depends on the service being enabled and an eligible server-side credit balance. Password recovery and account deletion are currently handled through support, not an automated email flow. We may ask for proportionate proof of account ownership before changing account access.
4. Credits, generation and interrupted requests
One credit is reserved when the server accepts an eligible generation request. A confirmed generation failure returns the reserved credit. A timeout or uncertain provider response may leave the request pending until its result can be checked. Use the existing request's status check rather than submitting multiple new requests. Contact support with the request ID if it remains unresolved.
A successfully delivered AI draft may require editing or scientific correction. Credit restoration for a failed job is different from a money refund; see Refunds and credits. Credits are service-use units, not cash, transferable funds, a financial account or proof of payment. We do not recognize balances created solely by changing browser storage or entering an unverified code.
5. Prices and payment availability
Self-service purchases are not currently available. Payment onboarding with Waffo Pancake is under review. There is no active subscription or automatic renewal in this version. Prices marked as planned are informational and are not a completed offer or payment authorization.
Before purchases are enabled, the checkout must disclose the actual package, price and currency, applicable taxes, credit quantity and any expiry, delivery terms, seller and payment-provider details, and refund policy. Do not send payment-card details by email or through the report form. Future payment functionality will require updated terms; these terms do not authorize future automatic charges.
6. Your content and intellectual property
You retain any rights you hold in your inputs. You give us permission to process your submitted description and settings, and to send them to the disclosed service providers, only as needed to operate the requested service, maintain security and resolve support or safety issues. Do not submit another person's confidential research, patient information or material you lack permission to share.
We do not claim ownership of rights you hold in your outputs. Subject to applicable law, third-party rights and provider terms, you may use the output for lawful research and illustration. AI outputs may resemble other outputs, contain protected material, or lack copyright protection in your jurisdiction. We do not guarantee originality, exclusivity, ownership of every element or a license to third-party characters, logos or trademarks.
PathwayFig's branding and software remain subject to their applicable ownership and licenses. Nothing in these terms restricts rights separately granted under an applicable open-source license.
7. Acceptable use and scientific integrity
The Acceptable Use Policy is part of these terms. It separately prohibits pornography/NSFW; violence/gore; hate speech; child sexual abuse and exploitation material; deepfakes/impersonation; and copyright/trademark infringement. It also prohibits privacy abuse, unlawful conduct, evasion of safeguards and fabrication of scientific evidence.
Label AI-generated drafts appropriately when sharing them and follow your institution's and publisher's disclosure rules. Do not present a generated illustration as a microscopy image, measured experimental result, validated dataset or clinician's diagnosis.
8. Disclaimers and your review responsibilities
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the service is uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every threat, suitable for every purpose, or always available. Maintenance, infrastructure faults and third-party provider outages can interrupt access.
Templates and AI outputs can be inaccurate, incomplete or outdated. Review every label, pathway relationship, activation/inhibition direction, source attribution and experimental context before use. We do not guarantee biological accuracy, publication acceptance, compliance with a journal's image policy, or fitness for clinical, legal or other professional decisions.
Nothing here excludes a warranty, guarantee, remedy or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded. Any mandatory rights prevail over a conflicting clause.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profits, business interruption, lost opportunities, or loss of data arising from use of the service or reliance on an output. You should retain exported files and independently validate scientific work.
These limitations do not exclude or restrict liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including applicable liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or mandatory consumer protections. They do not remove any remedy required by applicable law.
10. Breach, restrictions and termination
If we reasonably identify a breach, we may reject a request, withhold a result from access through PathwayFig, issue a warning, suspend AI access or terminate access for serious or repeated violations. Urgent risks involving child safety, violence, fraud, account compromise or legal requirements can justify immediate restrictions while we review the matter.
Where lawful and practicable, we will explain the reason and what can be done to resolve it. We consider the context, severity, evidence and likelihood of recurrence. A report or filter alert is not by itself proof of misconduct. We may retain necessary records and cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities. We cannot erase a file already exported to someone else's device or guarantee removal from an external image provider.
You may contest a restriction through the appeal form or [email protected]; include the decision or task reference and relevant context. We will reconsider the evidence and correct mistakes. As an individually operated service, we do not promise an independent review team or a fixed resolution time.
You may stop using the service at any time and request account closure through support. Suspension or termination does not automatically erase legitimate refund claims, accrued obligations or rights that survive under applicable law. Credits are not automatically forfeited merely because a report was submitted.
11. Changes and disputes
We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service or applicable requirements. The effective date is shown at the top. Material changes will be communicated on the site or through an available account contact when appropriate. We will obtain a new agreement where required and will not retroactively authorize charges.
Please first contact [email protected] about a dispute so that we can try to resolve it. These terms do not impose mandatory arbitration or remove your right to contact a regulator or bring a claim in a court available to you under applicable law. Mandatory consumer protections remain applicable.
