1. Scope and intended use
This policy is part of the Terms of Service and applies to prompts, generated images, account activity and content submitted to PathwayFig. It covers the free tools and AI features whenever available. The service is for adults aged 18 or older and is intended for scientific diagrams and research illustrations.
Non-sexual, non-graphic diagrams of anatomy, reproductive biology, disease mechanisms or other legitimate educational topics are not prohibited merely because they discuss the human body. Context matters. The exceptions below do not permit sexualized depictions of minors, graphic violence or medical advice.
2. Six prohibited content categories
- Pornography / NSFW. Do not generate or submit pornography, sexually explicit images, fetish content or sexual exploitation material. Non-sexual scientific schematics are allowed subject to the rest of this policy.
- Violence / gore. Do not generate graphic injury, torture, mutilation, real-world threats, encouragement of violence or self-harm, terrorist propaganda, or instructions that facilitate violent harm. Simplified, non-graphic educational depictions of biological processes are permitted.
- Hate speech. Do not generate content that dehumanizes, threatens, harasses or promotes violence or discrimination against people based on protected characteristics, including race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sex or sexual orientation.
- Child-unsafe content (CSAM). No child sexual abuse material, sexualized minors, grooming, child exploitation or instructions enabling abuse. This applies to real, fictional and AI-generated depictions. Attempts to obtain or distribute such material are prohibited.
- Deepfakes / impersonation. Do not generate face swaps or deceptive synthetic depictions of real people, impersonate a person or organization, fabricate endorsements, or create non-consensual intimate images.
- Copyright / trademark infringement. Do not copy or misuse protected illustrations, logos, characters, trademarks or other material without authorization, or remove rights notices to mislead others. A generated output is not evidence that you have permission to use a third party's rights.
3. Other prohibited conduct
- Fabricating microscopy, gels, experimental data, citations or other evidence and presenting it as a real observation or validated result.
- Using the service for diagnosis, treatment decisions, medical or health advice, or other safety-critical or regulated professional decisions.
- Submitting patient records, identifiable health data, doxxing material, private credentials or another party's confidential research without authorization.
- Fraud, phishing, malware, spam, unlawful instructions, evading sanctions or facilitating illegal activity.
- Bypassing safety checks, disguising a prohibited prompt, abusing credits, using another account without permission or disrupting the service.
- Intentionally false or harassing reports. Good-faith reports and appeals are welcome, including when our systems made a mistake.
4. Moderation and its current limits
A content-safety provider has not yet been configured for public AI access. AI generation must remain unavailable until the required checks are in place.
When AI generation is enabled, requests must pass server-side account, policy-acceptance and usage checks. The server requires an affirmative safety decision on the prompt before contacting the image generator. A generated image must receive a separate affirmative safety decision before it is displayed. If a required safety check is unavailable, invalid or fails, the request is blocked or the result is withheld. A pending review is not a pass.
Automated checks can miss context or cause false positives. They do not mean the content is legally cleared, scientifically correct or approved for every use. Content reports and appeals are reviewed manually by the operator, who can investigate available task information, restrict account access and record a decision. We do not promise that a human reads every prompt, that all harmful content is detected, or that there is a 24-hour review team.
Safety decisions and human-review outcomes are recorded for investigation. Reports and incidents are considered when reviewing the safety rules. We do not operate a public gallery of user AI results. Scientific accuracy is a separate responsibility: a safety check does not validate an experiment or a molecular pathway. Read the model disclosure for the provider and output limitations.
5. Report content or a rights violation
Use the content report form or email [email protected]. You do not need an account to report. Include the task ID or a page reference, the category of concern, and a short explanation. For a rights claim, identify the affected work or right and explain your authority to report it.
Do not upload or email illegal sexual images involving children. Provide a task reference and a description without reproducing illegal material. Do not include unrelated personal information, passwords, full payment-card details or patient information.
A successful online submission creates a reference for a stored report; it does not mean the report has been reviewed or that an email has been sent. If the form is unavailable, email support. Reports are assessed for urgency, evidence and context, with child safety and credible threats prioritized. This is not an emergency-response service.
We limit access to reports to those who need them for investigation, support or legal obligations. We cannot guarantee absolute confidentiality where disclosure is legally required or necessary to handle a rights claim. See the Privacy Policy.
6. Enforcement and consequences
Depending on severity and evidence, we may reject a request, withhold a result through PathwayFig, request correction, issue a warning, suspend AI access or terminate access for serious or repeated breaches. Where required, we may preserve relevant evidence and report unlawful conduct to competent authorities.
We will explain a restriction when lawful and practicable. A flagged prompt or complaint alone is not conclusive evidence. We do not promise deletion of external provider copies or files already downloaded by a user. Restrictions do not automatically void statutory refund rights or forfeit legitimate unused credits.
7. Appeals and corrections
If you believe a request or account was wrongly restricted, use the appeal form or email [email protected]. Include the original reference and explain the scientific context or other evidence we should consider. Do not resubmit the prohibited material itself.
The operator will reconsider the decision and may reverse or adjust it when the evidence supports doing so. We are an individually operated service; we do not claim a separate 24-hour moderation team or guarantee a fixed response time. Keep your report reference for follow-up.
