PathwayFig pricing and FAQ: credits, editable diagrams & exports

What is PathwayFig?

PathwayFig is a browser tool that uses AI to extract molecules and relationships from a mechanism description, lets you review them, and opens them in a vector editor. You can also start from templates or create separate raster image drafts. It does not verify biological mechanisms or replace subject-matter review.

Can I try the editor without paying?

Yes. Template editing and SVG/PNG exports are free without an account. When the graph preview is enabled in the workspace, signed-in accounts get two free graph analyses per UTC day, subject to shared site-wide free capacity. After that, each analysis uses one credit, only after you confirm it; a failed analysis returns the credit. Raster image generation uses credits and its own trial allowance.

Can I edit the labels inside an AI-generated image?

The AI image workflow returns a raster image whose labels are not editable vector objects. Choose the editable-diagram workflow to extract nodes and relationships directly from your mechanism description, review them, and edit them on the canvas. This does not convert an existing image into nodes.

Which formats are available?

The vector canvas exports SVG and PNG. You can also save and reopen a local JSON draft to continue editing in PathwayFig. Raster AI drafts download as image files. Layered PDF, EPS, and TIFF exports are not included.

How do credits work?

AI image generation uses one credit for 1K, two for 2K, or three for 4K. One-time packages are $9.90 for 50 credits, $29.90 for 200 credits, $69.90 for 600 credits, with applicable taxes shown at checkout. Credits also cover editable-graph analyses beyond the two free ones each day, at one credit per analysis. One-time purchases use Waffo Pancake checkout. Credits are added after verified payment confirmation; check your order status if checkout is interrupted.

What do I get free when I sign in?

Eligible accounts receive two free 1K image-generation attempts automatically, with no card or claim form. The free pilot is subject to site-wide daily capacity; accepted attempts may count even if screening rejects a request or a provider request fails. Free attempts and purchased image credits are separate. The free vector editor works without signing in.

Can I find a generated image again later?

My images in the workspace shows your account’s image-generation history. Approved results are copied to private storage when available so that you can reopen and download them. If an item shows storage pending, download a copy while its provider link is available. Keep your full original prompt separately: it is not currently retained in the image library.

Are editable diagrams saved to my account?

Editor changes are not automatically saved. Use Save editable file to keep a local JSON file, or sign in and use Save to account to reopen the diagram from My diagrams on another device. The same account can reuse its original AI-extracted result for the same description during the same UTC day, but that cache does not recover subsequent edits. The AI image library is separate.

Is a generated diagram automatically scientifically accurate?

No. Check every molecule, label, interaction, and compartment against your own references. AI can add unsupported interactions or incorrect labels. Templates are starting points and also require review for your specific research context.

Does payment include a guarantee of journal acceptance?

No. Publication rules depend on the journal, how the figure was created, the purpose of the figure, and the rights to its contents. Check the target journal’s AI and artwork policies, make required disclosures, and get editorial guidance when needed.

What should I include in a mechanism prompt?

Include the organism or cell type, required molecules, a list of activation and inhibition relationships, cellular compartments, layout, and a legend for uncertainty. Omit private or unpublished material that you are not authorized to share with an external generation service.

One-time image credit packages

Each resolution column assumes the entire package is spent at that setting; these quantities are alternatives, not added together. You can mix resolutions. Applicable taxes are shown at checkout. There is no subscription or automatic renewal, and each package is for one account.

A request reserves 1 credit at 1K, 2 at 2K, or 3 at 4K. Confirmed failed image jobs return their reserved credits; uncertain requests stay pending while their result is checked. A delivered draft may still need scientific corrections. Read the credit adjustment and refund policy before purchasing.
